Powell Township Schools welcomes new superintendent, Michelle Gill

MARQUETTE — Powell Township Schools has acquired a new superintendent for the 2021-22 school year.

The contract details for new superintendent Michelle Gill were approved at a special school board meeting on June 14. The contract commenced Thursday and will be reevaluated by the Powell Township school board annually.

“We are excited for her energy and how devoted she is to our community,” said Powell Township Schools administrative assistant Holly Dewitt. “We are really looking forward to it.”

Gill has her masters degree in public administration and practiced as a school secretary and as a human resources specialist for over 20 years. She acquired her superintendent and principal certifications through Michigan Association of Superintendents and Administrators in the Horizon Leadership Academy.

“Education is an ongoing learning process whether you’re a student, teacher or administrator,” Gill said. “I hope to provide leadership consistency. The school has been through many superintendents, and that is not my intention. I hope to provide leadership and support to the students and staff at Powell.”
