Marquette City Police respond to stabbing

MARQUETTE — At approximately 12:10 a.m. on Friday, the Marquette City Police Department responded to an assault complaint on the 500 block of High Street.

Upon arrival, the responding officer learned that a stabbing had taken place. The victim was transported to UP Health System – Marquette. Shortly after, a suspect was located in the same area and taken to UPHS as well, where they were treated.

After treatment, the suspect was lodged at the Marquette County Jail on charges stemming from the investigation. The victim has been reported to be in stable condition at this time.

The Marquette City Police were assisted by UPHS EMS, Marquette Township EMS, Michigan State Police, Northern Michigan University Public Safety, and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.

The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released at a later time.
