Township election race results in

Editor’s note: Election results remain unofficial until the Marquette County Board of Canvassers meets today.

Champion Township Trustee: Sonia D. LaPin (D) and Susan Little (D) won the two open seats in the race for Champion Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

LaPin received 100 votes while Little tallied 82, defeating opponent Matthew Zumpf who garnered 73 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Tilden Township Supervisor: Fred Van Luven (D) won the race for Tilden Township Supervisor in Tuesday’s general election.

Van Luven received 416 votes, defeating opponent Lori K. Kulju (R) who garnered 225 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Humboldt Township Clerk: Sarah Etelamaki (R) won the race for Humboldt Township Clerk in Tuesday’s general election.

Etelamaki received 221 votes, defeating opponent Ashley Lancour who garnered 91 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Humboldt Township Trustee: Peter Koski (R) and Jeffreg Ogea (D) won the two open seats for Humboldt Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Koski received 208 votes while Ogea tallied 157, defeating opponent Craig Thompson who garnered 117 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Ishpeming Township Clerk: Aaron Yunker (D) won the race for Ishpeming Township Clerk in Tuesday’s general election.

Yunker received 491 votes, defeating opponent Shylo L. Hyry who garnered 286 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Ishpeming Township Trustee: David A. Bosio (R) and Curt Sjoholm (D) won the two open seats for Ishpeming Township Trustee in Tuesday’s general election.

Bosio received 626 votes while Sjoholm tallied 382, defeating opponent Charles A. Johnson who garnered 329 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Negaunee Township Community Center Board: Dale R. Rogers (D), Steve Ayotte (D), Jason Makinen (D), Russell Williams (D), Stephen Olsen (R), Mike Rivord and Christopher Lunseth won the seven open seats in the race for Negaunee Township Community Center Board in Tuesday’s general election.

Rogers received 1,096 votes to lead the way. Ayotte tallied 1,037 votes, Makinen 999 votes, Williams 990 votes, Olsen 931 votes, Rivord 656 votes and Lunseth 570 votes, defeating John W. Makinen (L) who garnered 481 votes during Tuesday’s election.

Chocolay Township Trustee: Democrat Kendra Symbal, Republican David A. Lynch, Republican Donald Rhein and Judy White, who has no party affiliation, were elected Tuesday to the four open seats on the Chocolay Township Board, according to unofficial election results. Lynch was the top vote-getter, with 1,931 votes, while Symbal, Rhein and White garnered 1,863, 1,640 and 1,260 votes, respectively. Candidiate Anthony Giorgianni received 1,157 votes.

Forsyth Township Clerk: Republican candidate Michelle Borrett won Tuesday’s election for Forsyth Township clerk with 1,749 votes defeating, Democratic candidate Jane Nordeen, who garnered 1,424 votes.

Forsyth Township Treasurer: Republican candidate Steve Kevern won Tuesday’s election for Forsyth Township treasurer with 1,749 votes, defeating Democratic candidate Chris Adams, who garnered 1,290 votes.

Forsyth Township Trustee: Democratic candidates Neil Armatti and Leonard Bodenus II won the two open seats on the Forsyth Township Board, according to unofficial election results. Armatti was the top vote-getter, with 1,612 votes, while Bodenus garnered 1,470 votes. Republican candidates Dale Throenle and Connie Heikkila received 1,178 and 1,304 votes, respectively. Ryan Lipinski, who had no party affiliation listed, garnered 373 votes.

Humboldt Township Supervisor: Republican candidate Thomas Prophet was elected as Humboldt Township supervisor Tuesday, garnering 213 votes, as opposed to 98 votes cast for Democratic candidate Sanford R. Pesola.

Michigamme Township Supervisor: Democratic candidate William Seppanen won the race for Michigamme Township Supervisor with 120 votes. Candidate Denise A. Lovelace, who has no party affiliation, garnered 47 votes.

Michigamme Township Clerk: Neil Hanson, who has no party affiliation, won the race for Michigamme Township Clerk with 137 votes as opposed to the 95 votes garnered by his Democratic contender, Elizabeth Howe-Koenig.

Michigamme Township Treasurer: Nicole Haskett, who has no party affiliation, won the race for Michigamme Township treasurer in Tuesday’s election. Haskett garnered 149 votes while Democratic candidate Irene DeRoche garnered 84 votes.

Michigamme Township Trustee: Democratic candidates Julia Anderson-Lake and Donald DeRoche won the two open Michigamme Township trustee seats in Tuesday’s election, garnering 138 and 119 votes, respectively. Candidate Ruth Starr, who had no party affiliation, garnered 91 votes.

Powell Township Trustee: Republican candidate Denise Hudson and Karen December, who has no party affiliation, won the two open seats for Powell Township trustee. Hudson garnered 289 votes, while December garnered 236 votes. Candidate Joseph E. Stanley, who had no party affiliation, garnered 205 votes.

Republic Township Supervisor: James Brennan, who has no party affiliation, won the Republic Township supervisor race with 339 votes. Democratic contender John Ulrich garnered 277 votes.

Richmond Township Trustee: Democratic candidates Ashley Smith and James Korpi won the two open Richmond Township trustee seats in Tuesday’s election, with 314 and 257 votes, respectively. Candidate Emily Hodge, who has no party affiliation, garnered 114 votes.

Skandia Township Treasurer: Republican candidate Judy McGuire won the Skandia Township treasurer seat with 259 votes in Tuesday’s election. Democratic candidate Alice Anderson received 225 votes in the election.

West Branch Township Trustee: Republican candidate Tim Overmyer and Democratic candidate Kris Shaw won the two open seats for West Branch Township trustee in Tuesday’s election. Overmyer garnered 430 votes, while Shaw received 421 votes. Democratic candidate Nellie Latta garnered 397 votes.
