Second case of COVID-19 confirmed in Marquette County

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Health Department on Saturday announced the second confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in Marquette County.

The health department on Saturday became aware of a positive case identified through commercial laboratory testing. It was to have notified people who have been identified as close contacts, officials said. They will be assessed for symptoms and monitored appropriately.

No more information about the individual will be released, according to officials.

The health department became aware of the first positive COVID-19 case in Marquette County through commercial laboratory testing on Tuesday.

The health department continues to urge the community to continue to cooperate with recommendations for people to keep themselves and others safe. This include Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s “Stay Safe, Stay Home” orders and social distancing.

People who are mildly ill with COVID-19 are able to safely recover from home, the health department said. Others are asked to seek medical care and call ahead to their providers if symptoms worsen.
