New court date in homicide case

Jason Sadowski, charged with homicide – open murder

MUNISING– Jason David Sadowski, the man accused of homicide in relation to the May 30 death of a Munising man, is scheduled for a preliminary examination July 9 in 93rd District Court after a probable cause conference set for Thursday was waived.

Sadowski was arraigned on the charge of homicide – open murder on June 7 in the Alger County court, according to court officials.

Homicide – open murder is a felony that carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Sadowski remains lodged at the Alger County Sheriff’s Office on a no-bond warrant, court officials said this morning.

Munising police arrested Sadowski June 7 on a warrant issued by the Alger County Prosecutor’s Office for the charge of homicide – open murder.

Sadowski’s arrest stemmed from an investigation into the suspicious death of a 58-year-old Munising man.

The man, whose identity has not been publicly released by police, was pronounced dead at the scene by Alger County EMS.

Sadowski had been previously convicted of one count of solicitation to commit murder, two counts torture, two counts false imprisonment and two counts strangulation in March 2014, but was acquitted and released from prison following a retrial and long jury deliberation in March 2017.

Those charges stemmed from a July 2013 incident, in which Sadowski was accused of tying up two women, threatening and beating them in the basement of his Ishpeming home and business.
