Woman arraigned after allegedly attempting bank robbery in Marquette

McNEIL

MARQUETTE — The woman who allegedly attempted a bank robbery Saturday in Marquette has been arraigned in the 96th District Court.

Sharon McNeil, 66, of Marquette, was arraigned in the district court Monday on one count of bank robbery and one count of larceny in a building.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred around 9:56 a.m. Saturday at the Marquette Community Federal Credit Union along West Washington Street, according to the Marquette City Police. Police had been dispatched to a report of an unarmed female subject who entered the credit union and “demanded money,” police said.

McNeil also attempted to take a check and a computer monitor at the time but was “subdued by a male customer until police arrived,” police said previously.

McNeil was lodged at the Marquette County Jail following the incident.

McNeil’s bond is set at $100,000 cash/surety for the count of bank robbery and $50,000 cash/surety for the count of larceny in a building.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for May 15 and a preliminary examination is set for May 29 in the district court.

The Marquette City Police were assisted by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Northern Michigan University Public Safety and Michigan State Police.
