Residents file for board seats

MARQUETTE — A number of local residents’ names will be on the Nov. 6 general election ballot for spots on local boards of education.

According to the Marquette County Clerk’s Office, the following people will run for office:

≤ Marquette Area Public Schools — Keith Glendon and George Pond Jr., both of Marquette, for one partial term ending in 2020, and Glenn Sarka, Jim Hewitt, Kristen Cambensy, Brandon Canfield and Erich Norse Ottem, all of Marquette, for three six-year terms ending in 2024.

Glendon, Sarka and Cambensy are incumbent trustees while Hewitt is the incumbent secretary-treasurer.

≤ Ishpeming Public Schools — Scott Lyman, Joe Routhier and Tina Romback, all of Ishpeming, for three partial terms ending in 2020. Lyman and Routhier and incumbent trustees, and Romback is the incumbent treasurer.

Incumbent President Bob Nadeau of Ishpeming and incumbent Trustee Angela Johnson will be on the ballot for two six-year terms ending in 2024.

There are no candidates for two partial terms ending in 2022.

≤ Negaunee Public Schools — Todd A. Saunders, Patrick Thomson and Paul Maino, all of Negaunee, for two six-year terms ending in 2024.

≤ NICE Community Schools — Ronald D. Mariani of Ishpeming, incumbent vice president, with two six-year terms ending 2024 open.

≤ Powell Township School District — Linda Fleury of Big Bay, for one four-year term ending in 2022.

≤ Gwinn Area Community Schools — Avis Meyers-Ketola, Patricia Emery and Brad Johnson, all of Gwinn, for two six-year terms ending in 2024. Meyers-Ketola is the incumbent secretary while Emery is an incumbent trustee.

Incumbent Treasurer John Waldo of Skandia is seeking a seat for a partial term ending in 2022.

Glenn Boogren of Gwinn, an incumbent trustee, is seeking a seat for a partial term ending in 2020.

≤ Republic-Michigamme Schools — Hailie Hoover-Dyer, Teresa M. Laakso and Jacob Spear, all of Republic, for three four-year terms ending in 2022. Hoover-Dyer is the incumbent vice president while Laakso is the incumbent treasurer.

There are no candidates for a partial term ending in 2020.

≤ Wells Township School District — Cassandra Harris and Sandra Holmes, both of Cornell, for two partial terms ending in 2022.
