MARQUETTE — Marquette County voters overwhelmingly decided to support several county-wide millages at the polls Tuesday.

The millage to fund services for senior citizens passed with 11,473 votes, or 90 percent of votes cast; the millage for the Marquette County Search and Rescue and Technical Rescue Unit programs passed with 11,311 votes, or 89 percent of votes cast; the millage for Marquette County Central Dispatch’s enhanced 911 emergency telephone system passed with 11,640 votes, or 91 percent of votes cast.

County Proposal A, which proposed the renewal of a millage for senior citizen service that was passed by voters in 2012, will allow Marquette County to levy up to .4474 mill, or about 45 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, for six years, from 2018 through 2023, both years inclusive, on all taxable property within Marquette County.

The levy would raise roughly $1.01 million over the first year of the millage, county documents state.

The passage of County Proposal B will allow Marquette County to continue to provide Search and Rescue and Technical Rescue Services by renewing the .1525 mills approved by voters in 2012, according to county documents.

The levy of .1525 mill, or 15 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, would run from 2018 to 2023, both years inclusive, on all taxable property within Marquette County. It would raise nearly $345,000 during the first year of the millage, county documents state.

County Proposal C, which pertains to central dispatch’s enhanced 911 emergency telephone system, will allow Marquette County to “continue to operate the 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch Telephone System by renewing the .4970 mills approved by voters in 2012,” county documents state. The millage would allow Marquette County to levy up to .4970 mill, or 49.7 cents per $1,000 of taxable value, from 2018 to 2023, both years inclusive, on all taxable properly within Marquette County. The levy would raise about $1.12 million in the first year of the millage, county documents state.
