MSP marshal assisting in fire investigation

MARQUETTE — Two people were found dead after emergency crews responded to a structure fire in the city of Marquette Monday evening.

Around 11:35 p.m., officers with the Marquette Police and Fire departments were called to the home, located at 1026 Lincoln Ave., according to an MPD press release.

The two deceased victims were found inside the residence, officials said. Authorities did not disclose their identities.

A fire marshal with the Michigan State Police and MPD officers were continuing to investigate the incident as of earlier today.

Officials could not be reached for comment by press time this morning.

Crews were assisted at the scene by the Marquette public works department, UP Health System-Marquette EMS and the Marquette Township Fire Department.

The structure is listed as a rental owned by Michael and Lynn Johnson, according to the city of Marquette website.
