The group attempted to drive a pickup truck along Trail No. 443, and got stuck approximately 5 miles south of Grand Marais, according to the Alger County Sheriff’s Department.

A 911 call from the individuals – Matthew Maynard and Keith Avery, both of Grand Marais, Stephanie Maynard of Manistique and Tyler Franz of Escanaba – was received by the sheriff’s office at about 4:15 a.m. Thursday.
