‘Kickathon’ benefit event planned

MARQUETTE –The Spirit Warrior Karate Academy is holding a “Kickathon” to benefit Room At The Inn Homeless Shelter and Warming Center.

During Valentines Week, the Tang Soo Do karate students will be performing hundreds of kicks each, for a cumulative total of thousands of kicks.

Pledges for general dollar amounts or donations per kick can be made for specific individual students, and donors can be assisted to learn how to support the school’s efforts. Checks payable to the Room At The Inn, as well as online giving, will allow documentation for tax purposes.

To communicate with the event’s finance coordinator Heather Marsico, contact Master Tredeau at 906-360-0479 or Master.T@SpiritWarriorKarate.com and she will then contact donors directly.

The event’s efforts will be completed by Feb. 29.

Personal Legacy Workshop held

MARQUETTE — From 6-8 p.m. Monday, the Dandelion Cottage Room at the Peter White Public Library will be hosting a Personal Legacy Workshop, a drop-in program that gives participants the opportunity to work individually on their writing with Heather Mlsna.

With a background in writing and marketing, Heather is the owner/operator of Last Letters/No Regrets, a professional writing service which serves individuals seeking to express themselves on paper, but who need help getting started. The goal of her service is to help people find healing and remembrance though writing.

Mlsna will help participants learn a quick, easy method of getting their stories and memories on paper. Projects include memoirs, letters, family histories, scrapbook and photo histories with stories, pet remembrances, journals, etc. Workshops will be the second Monday of every month. Writers can attend as many as they like until their project is complete.

There is no admission fee to attend this drop-in workshop. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
