Maritime HIstory on Tap — The “White Hurricane” storm of November 1913 was the worst weather event ever to hit the Great Lakes. More than 250 sailors died, and a dozen ships vanished, sinking with their entire crews. During a lull in the storm, the big steel freighter Henry B. Smith set sail from Marquette, never to be seen again for a hundred years. The Marquette Maritime Museum’s Maritime History on Tap series presents Dan Fountain at 7 p.m. at the Ore Dock Brewing Company as he shares historical photos and unique underwater video and sonar imagery of this historic local shipwreck. The suggested donation at the door is $5.
