Crime book club to meet

MARQUETTE — Once Upon a Crime, the book group for mystery lovers, will meet in the Dandelion Cottage Room in the Peter White Public Library at 7 p.m. Wednesday to discuss “Motherless Brooklyn” by Jonathan Lethem.

When Frank Minna, leader of the Minna Men, a group of orphans who live on street smarts in 1970s Brooklyn, is killed, Lionel, one of the orphans who has Tourette Syndrome, searches for his killer.

Part of the “They Took the Prize” theme for the year, Motherless Brooklyn won the 1999 National Book Critics Circle Award and the 2000 Gold Dagger Award for Crime Fiction. New members are welcome.
