Special speaker at area church

ISHPEMING — Today, Celebrate Recovery of Northiron Church in Ishpeming is having a special guest speaker: Brian Cole.

Cole will be sharing his testimony of recovery. He is currently the director of addiction transformation at the Crossroads Outreach Center in Ashland, Wisconsin.

He’s also the pastor of the Faith Riders Motorcycle Ministry and pastor of the Oaks Church.

Cole speaks at many town halls, conferences and school assemblies on addiction issues. He is also a popular speaker at the Gideons International meetings.

According to a press release, “His message is about how he went from dealing dope to dealing hope. From a dark past of being in prison to his freedom now and transformation in Jesus Christ!”

Live worship begins at 6 p.m. Brian will then share a message on “Breaking the Cycles of Addiction.”A time of refreshments and fellowship will follow.

Archeology fair at MRHC

MARQUETTE — An Archeology Fair is planned from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Marquette Regional History Center.

International Archaeology Day is celebrated world wide on this day. Spend a fun afternoon with hands-on activities, demonstrations, artifacts and displays at a wide variety of interactive booths throughout the entire museum.

For 2019, the MRHC’s seventh annual fair, participants may also enjoy a traveling exhibit that will be here during the fair: Archeology on Ice.

This exhibit describes the emerging discipline of Glacial Archeology. Highlighting decade-long field research, climate change, artifacts and tribal participation in the project, this exhibit makes its Michigan debut at the MRHC.

Included will be a display of recent archeological research in Marquette County.

Meet the archeologist behind Archeology on Ice, Dr. James Dixon, who will be here during the fair.

Fair included with the cost of general admission.

A great event for all ages including families, clubs, scouts, and individuals.

This is an open-house event so come in any time between noon and 3 p.m.

Museum admission prices: adults $7; seniors $6; students $3; youth 12 and under $2. The museum is located at 145 W. Spring St., Marquette.

Potato sausage at New Free Store

MARQUETTE — The New Free Store is a nonprofit organization that supplements clothing, linens, cleaning supplies and hygiene products free-of-charge to those in need.

The New Free Store is holding its annual Potato Sausage Sale Fundraiser.

The potato sausage is $5 per pound and must be pre-ordered by Sunday by calling Virginia at 906-235-3553 or The New Free Store at 906-362-3733.

Potato sausage orders may be picked up from 1-6:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the American Legion, 700 W. Bluff St. in Marquette.
