Climate meeting is Saturday

MARQUETTE — The public is invited to join the Marquette Chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby for the group’s monthly meeting in the Lions Room of the Peter White Public Library at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The national CCL group will present a video-conference to the local chapters during these meetings, which are regularly scheduled the second Saturday of each month.

Craft, bake sale is Saturday

ISHPEMING — A Fall Craft and Bake Sale will be held at the Highrise at 111 Bluff St. in Ishpeming in the Community Room from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Vendors include Tupperware, Mary Kay, Jimmy Krack Korn, Local Author Bill Blewett will be there as well as many homemade craft items, jewelry, Christmas ornaments, bakery and more.

Lunch — sloppy joe, chips and pop — is available for $4 or a cup of coffee and a sweet treat can be purchased for $1.

DAR meeting at MRHC

MARQUETTE — The Onagomingkway Chapter, DAR, will hold its October meeting from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Marquette Regional History Center.

Bring a lunch.

The cost will be $7 for adults to cover the cost of the program, “Ghosts of the Orphanage” and a tour of the museum. Linage questions will be answered following the meeting.

Craft fair in Munising Saturday

MUNISING — The American Legion Annual Arts and Crafts Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Legion Post 131 along M-28 in Munising.

Crafters from Delta, Marquette, Schoolcraft and Alger counties will be featured with all sorts of unique items for sale.

The event is a fundraiser for the annual Alger County Children’s Christmas Party, which is coming up Dec. 7.

Seney youth event is Saturday

SENEY –Seney National Wildlife Refuge is hosting a fall event to inspire youth to enjoy the outdoors: The eighth annual Youth in the Outdoors Event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Anyone who has kids, grandkids, friends with kids, or who is a kid, who wants to participate send an email to gage_harris@fws.gov to be added to a mailing list and registration materials will be sent promptly.

There will be several activities to choose from and scouts can earn badges or portions of badges.

The activities include: archery, tracking and trapping, duck decoy painting, owl pellet dissection, wildlife CSI with a federal wildlife officer, a session on prescribed burns with a fire management specialist, and hands-on lessons on birds, fish, insects, fungi, or frogs.

Whatever your interests, there is something for everyone.

Things to consider if interested:

≤ This is a rain or shine event. Participants should wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for the weather and outdoor activities.

≤ All activities are geared towards kids in upper elementary school and older (approximately 8 and up). Help your children choose sessions appropriate to their abilities.

≤ Youth will need to bring a sack lunch the day of the event. Lunch is not provided.

≤ All youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

≤ Spots are limited, so make sure to register as soon as possible to ensure participants are included in the activities of their choice.
