The Apollo Program, also known as Project Apollo, was first conceived during the Eisenhower administration, but it was under the guidance of Kennedy’s administration that it achieved success, with the first moon landing occurring on July 20, 1969. In addition to discussing the development of this three-manned space flight program, Scott will give a demonstration on how to use the Library’s telescopes, donated to the Library by the Marquette Astronomical Society and available for check-out.

An amateur astronomer for 45 years, which includes serving as President of the Marquette Astronomical Society, Scott has worked as a public school science teacher for 29 years, serving as Director of the Shiras Planetarium from 1973 until 2002. Currently, he is teaching astronomy labs at Northern Michigan University and is involved with their portable planetarium program.

She is an MSPT Chronic Pain Specialist with UP Rehab Services of Marquette. She earned her bachelor of science degree from Northern Michigan University and her master of science from Grand Valley State University.

Her professional passion is to “teach people the power of gentle exercise in healing and pain reduction.”
