Marquette City Band auditions — directed by Dr. Stephen Grugin, the Marquette City Band is seeking new members for its 2019 Summer Concert Season. Open auditions will be from 5-7 p.m. at the Marquette Commons building on South Third Street. No appointment is necessary. Instrumentalists are asked to prepare a short solo, etude or band excerpt that demonstrates their musical proficiency. Sight-reading will also be included. Fish fry — Marquette Elks Lodge 405 Fish Fry is from 4:30-7 p.m. The public is welcome. Chef Jeff will make to order whitefish, baked or fried with a choice of lemon pepper, cajun, ragin cajun spices or plain. Shrimp and beer battered cod round out the seafood choices. Burgers and chicken strips are available too. All dinners include choice of baked potato, fries or onion rings, salad bar and a made from scratch dessert. Live music by Bobby Buchkoe is part of the evening as well. The Marquette Elks Lodge is located at 127 N. Front St. Reservations are accepted. Call 906-226-7611.
