U.P. Honor Flight viewing –a room has been reserved at Peter White Public Library in Marquette this date for anyone who would like to watch the Facebook Live feed of the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight as it brings veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials in their honor. This is the 16th mission of UPHF and 78 veterans are signed up for this flight which leaves Escanaba early in the morning and returns at about 8:30 p.m. that day. Scott Knauf, UPHF president, said the viewing room will be available during PWPL’s open hours that day, which are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

NARFE — members of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1900 will hear a presentation by Sheri Davie, executive director of the Marquette Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, at their next regular meeting at 1:30 p.m., NARFE will meet in Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, on the lower level of City Hall, 300 W. Baraga in Marquette. Members may enter from Spring Street, behind City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.

Family Storytime — which encourages families to come and enjoy songs, rhymes and stories together, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Negaunee Public Library. Children of this age must be accompanied by a loving adult when in the library.

The Archeology of POW Camp AuTrain — 6:30 p.m. Marquette Regional History Center. In the summer of 2018 Dr. LouAnn Wurst led a team from Michigan Tech onsite work at the former CCC Camp AuTrain, to research the use of the camp as a prisoner of war camp during WWII. In conjunction with the Hiawatha National Forest, this work will continue in 2019. Learn first-hand what is being found and conclusions Wurst has drawn at this presentation. $5 suggested donation

Marquette City Band auditions — directed by Dr. Stephen Grugin, the Marquette City Band is seeking new members for its 2019 Summer Concert Season. Open auditions will be from 5-7 p.m. at the Marquette Commons building on South Third Street. No appointment is necessary. Instrumentalists are asked to prepare a short solo, etude or band excerpt that demonstrates their musical proficiency. Sight-reading will also be included.
