Suicide Awareness Walk — Gwinn Teen Clinic and Youth Advisory Council will be hosting the seventh annual P.S. I Love You Walk for suicide prevention awareness. The walk starts at the Gwinn High School/Middle School at 10 a.m. with registration at 9:30 a.m. This event is open to the public. The walk is about 1.5 miles of easy walking on sidewalks down the main street in Gwinn. Registration in advance is appreciated, call the Gwinn Teen Clinic at 372-4002. With a $5 registration, some shirts will be available with the 2019 logo on them, designed by a local high school student Raina Humphrey. The shirts are available until gone.

Superiorland Woodturners — will hold a lecture demonstration in Studio 2 of the Marquette Arts and Culture Center in the lower level of the Peter White Public Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jason Schneider, the head of the woodworking department at Northern Michigan University, will be presenting a program on Woodturning. The lecture/demonstration will be free of charge and is open to the public. Those wishing to purchase lunch should bring $12 -$15 to cover the cost of the meal. Spring Craft and Vendor Fair — is happening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richmond Township Hall at 100 Smith St. in Palmer. Pizza with a Purpose — third annual fundraiser is planned from noon to 9 p.m. at Pictured Rocks Pizza, 106 Birch St., in Munising. This event is a collaboration between the Alger County Communities That Care and Pictured Rocks Pizza.

Young Finns — the Kivajat Folk Dancers (ages 8-17) from the Finnish American Heritage Center at Finlandia University will present a program of music and dance, Footwork and Fiddles to Finland, at 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette. The Marquette Folk Dancers, led by Bob Railey, will join them on stage for a portion of the show. The Finlandia Foundation National, Lake Superior Chapter, formerly the League of Finnish-American Societies U.P. Chapter Finlandia Foundation Affiliate, is sponsoring this event. Elks fundraiser — Marquette Elks Lodge 405 will be featuring Fran’s turkey Dinner with all the “fixins” plus dessert from 4-7 p.m. All proceeds from this dinner benefit the Elks Scholarship Fund. The public is welcome. The dinner is $13 per person with kids 5 and under free. The Elks Lodge in Marquette is located at 127 N. Front St. Reservations are welcome, dine in or carry out. Brain Trust — The Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council presents the world premiere of “The Brain Trust,” written by local veteran Bill Hager at the Vista Theater, 7 p.m., Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for active military and veterans, seniors and students kindergarten through 12 and will be sold at Snowbound Books in Marquette, Midtown Bakery in Negaunee and Rare Earth Goods in Ishpeming and www.vistatheater.org.

Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club– will be meeting at 1:30p.m. at the Cliff Shaft Mine Museum, 501 W. Euclid St. in Ishpeming. Doors will open at 1 p.m. to allow members and visitors time to bid on silent auction specimens and to view the club’s mineral collection. The program will start at 1:30 p.m. Karen Brzys (aka, “The Agate Lady”) will present “The Wonderful World of Agates, Inside Out.” All are welcome, no admission charged.
