History walk — Daniel Truckey, director of the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at Northern Michigan University, will host “Walking Through the Past: 70 Years of Architecture at NMU.” This walking tour of campus begins at 1 p.m. at Cohodas Hall. It is free and open to the public. Truckey will share the history of how NMU’s architecture has evolved from one, two-story brownstone classroom building to the large, modern campus buildings of today. The tour will include historical facts about NMU’s most fascinating structures and the people who built them.

Marquette Chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby — invites the public too the group’s monthly meeting in the Lion’s Room of the Peter White Public Library at 1 p.m. The national CCL group will present a video-conference to the local chapters during these meetings, which are regularly scheduled the second Saturday of each month.

Master Gardener — The Upper Peninsula Master Gardener Association presents “Seed Saving for the Practical Gardener” from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Peter White Public Library Shiras Room. Abbey Palmer has been teaching people about the connections between food, health and local economies for the past six years. As education coordinator at the North Farm, she works with people of all ages who are curious about where their food comes from and want to learn more about how it is produced. This program is free. Dance — There will be a polka and variety dance event with Polkarioty – Richie & Gabe Yurkovich at the American Legion Hall in Ishpeming from 2-5 p.m.. Spaghetti — A spaghetti dinner will be hosted from 4 to 7 p.m. April 13 the Gwinn VFW 5670 post. The meal will be prepared by the Boy Scouts of America Troop 333. Pastor installed — The Rev. Andrew Plocher will be installed as the senior pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, at 3 p.m. at the church. The community is welcome to attend the installation service and join the congregation in welcoming Pastor Andrew as he begins his ministry at Messiah. A reception will be held following the service.
