Beekeeping workshop planned

EWEN — Michigan State University Extension is once again teaming up with Les McBean, of White Birch Apiary of Bruce Crossing, LLC , to offer a Backyard Beekeeping Workshop.

This year’s workshop will be held on Saturday 30 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST at the Ewen-Trout Creek High School, Ewen. This workshop is designed for both those just getting started in beekeeping and the experienced beekeeper.

Contact the Ontonagon County MSU Extension at 906-884-4386. Preregistration is requested and there is a fee of $30 which includes lunch.

Legion marking century of service

ISHEPMING — This year, The American Legion is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The American Legion Post 114 in Greenwood Location, west of Ishpeming, will be hosting an open house from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There will be snacks and lots of information available.

Post Ladies Auxiliary President Penny Strongman said in a news release: “We welcome everyone as this major event is open to the public. Stop in and check us out. We have a lot going on. We also want to thank all veterans for their service.”
