Pet Partners’ handler class May 11

MARQUETTE — April 26 is the deadline to sign up for the SuperiorLand Pet Partners’ next handler class.

The class will be May 11 in Marquette.

The handler class is the first step in a process of training, testing and registering handler/animal teams with international pet therapy group, Pet Partners.

The registered teams are invited into hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation homes, libraries, schools, etc to offer comfort and support.

‘Foxtrot’ to be screened Monday

MARQUETTE — Foreign Flicks, a new program dedicated to contemporary films from around the world, presents the 2017 drama “Foxtrot” at 6 p.m. Monday in the Peter White Public Library’s Community Room.

This is a BYO dinner event.

Told in three acts, this drama reveals the stages of parental grief, trauma, and loss a couple goes through when they are informed by army officials of their son’s death. This Israeli film, directed by Samuel Maoz (in Hebrew, and rated R), runs for 113 minutes.

Foxtrot won 29 awards including best film/foreign film from the Israeli Film Academy, the Munich Film Festival, the National Board of Review USA, and the Venice Film Festival.
