Program on fall prevention set

MARQUETTE — At noon Wednesday, Dr. Mickey Sanders will give a talk on fall prevention (and what to do should you sustain a fall,) this month’s For Your Health presentation.

Because the elevator will not be functioning, the talk is scheduled to be in the Peter White Public Library’s Community Room on the lower level. As people age, the likelihood of them falling increases. Research shows, however, that an exercise program can reduce the risk of falling by increasing strength and stamina, enhancing balance, improving walking patterns, and quickening reflexes.

Sanders will talk about how physical therapy can assist a person in preventing falls.

Sanders earned his BS at Jacksonville State University and his DPT at Grand Valley State University.

This lunch and learn session is sponsored by U.P. Rehab Services of Marquette and the Peter White Public Library. Bring a sack lunch as well as any questions for the therapist.

There is no admission charge to attend. For more information, visit the library’s website at www.pwpl.info or call 906-226-4318.
