Audubon Society to meet

MARQUETTE — On March 13, the Laughing Whitefish Audubon Society will present a program called “Wildlife Spectacular of Tanzania, East Africa” by Jeff Towner.

The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of Peter White Public Library. Jeff and his son Daniel spent three weeks in October in northern Tanzania and the islands of Pemba and Zanzibar. His presentation will focus on the mammals and birds of Tanzania, as well as some of the wildlife conservation challenges in Africa.

Legacy workshop on tap

MARQUETTE — From 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 11 in Heritage Room, the Peter White Public Library will be hosting a Personal Legacy Workshop with Heather Mlsna.

Anyone who has a writing project to start, this workshop is an easy method of organizing thoughts so that the actual writing happens.

Participant’s projects have included memoir, letters, family histories, scrapbook and photo histories with stories, pet remembrances, journals, etc.

With a background in writing and marketing, Mlsna is the owner/operator of Last Letters/No Regrets, a professional writing service which serves individuals seeking to express themselves on paper, but who need help getting started. The goal of her service is to help people find healing and remembrance though writing.

Great War novel to be mulled

MARQUETTE — Tasty Reads, a book group for readers who like to cook, will focus on “The Care and Management of Lies: A Novel of the Great War” by Jacqueline Winspear at their March 12 meeting at noon in the Peter White Public Library’s Shiras Room on the upper level.

Two weeks after Kezia marries Tom, he enlists to fight in the Great War. While he is gone, Kezia writes him letters about the delicious meals she is preparing for him while she learns how to run their farm.

Community theater meeting set

MUNISING — At 6 p.m. March 13 at the Mather Auditorium, there will be a meeting for all those interested in local community theater and programming for Mather Auditorium.
