‘Running Wild’ screened March 11

MARQUETTE — DocuMonday presents a screening of the 2013 documentary “Running Wild: The Life of Dayton O. Hyde” at 7 p.m. March 11 in the Peter White Public Library’s Community Room on the lower level of the library.

Directed by Suzanne Mitchell this biographical documentary focuses on the life of Marquette native Dayton O Hyde, a cowboy, conservationist and award-winning author, and his quest to protect the wild horses of the American West. It is being shown in memory of this remarkable man who passed away on Dec. 22. Rated NR, this film runs 93 minutes.

Traditional music jam to be held

MARQUETTE — From 2-5 p.m. March 9, the Peter White Public Library will host a traditional music jam in the Community Room on the lower level of the library.

Bring a guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, ukulele, harmonica, or just your voice, and join other acoustic musicians and vocalists for a community jam session. Celebrate the traditional folk music of the Carter Family, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and others. It’s a chance to share your love of music and learn a new song or instrumental technique. Listeners and singers are always welcome.

There is no admission charge to attend this event which is sponsored by the Hiawatha Music Co-op and the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library.

Radio license tests to be offered

MARQUETTE — Hiawatha Amateur Radio Association will be hosting a licensing test session for those interested in obtaining an amateur radio license on March 9.

The location is the Marquette County Health Department Building in Negaunee Township. Doors open at 8 a.m. with testing beginning at 8:30 a.m. There is a fee involved.

Fish fry events set for Harvey

MARQUETTE — St. Louis the King Church in Harvey is offering a Lenten Fish Fry on March 8, March 22 and April 5 and April 12 from 4:30-7 p.m.

It will be $10 for a single ticket and $25 for the family. The fish will be baked or fried. Fellowship and games will also be offered.

St. Louis the King Church is located at 264 Silver Creek Road in Harvey. All are welcome to attend.
