Personal Legacy Workshops offered

MARQUETTE — From 6-8 p.m. Feb. 11 in the Dandelion Cottage Room, the Peter White Public Library will be hosting the third of three drop-in Personal Legacy Workshops with Heather Mlsna.

In this third workshop, Heather will focus on editing, revising and rewriting with consideration given to the document’s vehicle of delivery.

With a background in writing and marketing, Heather is the owner/operator of Last Letters/No Regrets, a professional writing service. The goal of her service is to help people find healing and remembrance though writing.

Trout Unlimited board meeting

MARQUETTE — The Fred Waara Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold its monthly board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Barrel + Beam, 260 Northwoods Road, Marquette.

All who are interested in conservation and cold water fisheries are welcome.

Meditation class held this month

MARQUETTE — Join Jeremy Morelock for a weekly Meditation Class emphasizing mindfulness, loving-kindness and compassion.

The class meets at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays in February in the Heritage Room at the Peter White Public Library.

NSDAR set to meet at Big Boy

MARQUETTE — The Onagomingkway Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will meet from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Big Boy restaurant in Marquette.

Traditional music jam to be held

MARQUETTE — From 2-5 p.m. Saturday, the Peter White Public Library will host a traditional music jam in the Community Room on the lower level of the library.

Bring a guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, ukulele, harmonica, or just your voice, and join other acoustic musicians and vocalists for a community jam session. Celebrate the traditional folk music of the Carter Family, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and others. It’s a chance to share your love of music and learn a new song or instrumental technique. Listeners and singers are always welcome.

There is no admission charge to attend this event which is sponsored by the Hiawatha Music Co-op and the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library.

Presentation to be held Feb. 10

MARQUETTE — The Social Education and Action Committee of First Presbyterian Church in Marquette will have a program at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 called “El Camino Pilgrimage: Poetry in Pictures.”

The presentation will be by the Rev. Dr. Lawrence Jones. The public is invited and there will be refreshments.

Breakfast buffet at Gwinn VFW

GWINN — Gwinn VFW Post 5670 will sponsor a breakfast buffet from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 10 at the club.

The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for kids under 10 years.

On the menu will be pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, coffee, juice, and milk.

Corks and canvas art class Feb. 10

CURTIS — Erickson Center for the Arts, Curtis, will be the site of the “Tree of Hearts” Corks and Canvas Art Class.

This special Valentine’s class with Linda Anderson will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 10.

Class fee is $40 and includes all supplies. Students will be able to make this painting truly unique by choosing their own background paint color. Light snacks will be offered, bring your own beverages. Space is limited.

Wildcat Wellness Health Fair held

MARQUETTE — The annual Wildcat Wellness Health Fair at Northern Michigan University will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the University Center Great Lakes Rooms.

It is free for NMU faculty, staff and students.

The fair will offer a variety of health screenings and displays, including blood pressure, body fat assessments, tobacco cessation and substance abuse. There will also be Rape Aggression Defense System demonstrations.

The fair is a project of the Health Promotion Society, an organization devoted to promoting health and wellness in the campus and surrounding community.
