Tai chi — 9:30 a.m. to noon. An introductory workshop to the mind/body practice of Tai Chi Chuan will take place at the Hope Connection Center, 927 W. Fair Ave. in Marquette. No prior experience is necessary. Jon and Diana Magnuson will serve as instructors. This month’s workshop will focus on the Tai Chi Ball form. Winter Carnival — Skandia Lions will be hosting its third annual winter carnival to help fight hunger from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will take place at Maple Lane Archery and Ski Center, 124 Kreiger Drive, in Skandia. There will be cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and concessions. A $5 donation to the Lions Club gets you access to all the amazing scenic trails Maple Lane Sports has to offer. If you don’t have your own winter equipment, ski and snowshoe rentals will be available for $5. Admission is free for children under 3, rental fees will still apply. All proceeds will go to support local food pantries.

Climate — the public is invited to join the Marquette Chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby for the group’s monthly meeting in the Lion’s Room of the Peter White Public Library at 12:30 p.m.

Bean Bag Tournament — A Bean Bag Tournament is planned at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post 114, Greenwood Location. The cost is $30 per couple and there will be food and cash bar.

100DayProject — There is an Information meeting about participating in the sixth annual community-wide 100DayProject from 1-3 p.m. in the Marquette Arts & Culture Center in the lower level of the PWPL. The event will include a tour of the 100DayProject exhibit on display at the Huron Mountain gallery.

Traditional Jam — From 2-5 p.m., the Peter White Public Library will host a traditional music jam in the Community Room on the lower level of the library. Bring a guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass, ukulele, harmonica, or just your voice, and join other acoustic musicians and vocalists for a community jam session. Celebrate the traditional folk music of the Carter Family, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and others. It’s a chance to share your love of music and learn a new song or instrumental technique. Listeners and singers are always welcome. For this session, cookies and coffee will be available, compliments of Sharon Brazier whose husband Bill Brazier passed away a little over two years ago.
