Fish fry — The Ishpeming VFW Post 4573, 310 Bank St., will have a fish fry each Friday from 4-7 p.m. The menu features a variety of fish, baked or fried, ribeye steak, chicken and burgers. Each dinner include baked potatoes or fries, applesauce, cole slaw, roll and dessert. Take-outs are available. Call 906-486-4856.

Fish fry — Marquette Elks Lodge 405 Fish Fry is from 4:30-7 p.m. The public is welcome. Chef Jeff will make to order whitefish, baked or fried with a choice of lemon pepper, cajun, ragin cajun spices or plain. Shrimp and beer battered cod round out the seafood choices. Burgers and chicken strips are available too. All dinners include choice of baked potato, fries or onion rings, salad bar and a made from scratch dessert. The Cooking Series — for the Richmond Township Recreation Program continues from 6-7 p.m. at the Richmond Township Hall on 500 Smith St. in Palmer. Organizers will be showing children and adults how to make healthy and great tasting parfaits. Participants will be building parfaits using granola with almonds, strawberries, blueberries and vanilla yogurt. If substitutions need to be made, call 475-5241 as organizers hope to accommodate everyone. Everyone is welcome. Tai chi — 9:30 a.m. to noon. An introductory workshop to the mind/body practice of Tai Chi Chuan will take place at the Hope Connection Center, 927 W. Fair Ave. in Marquette. No prior experience is necessary. Jon and Diana Magnuson will serve as instructors. This month’s workshop will focus on the Tai Chi Ball form. Winter Carnival — Kkandia Lions will be hosting its third annual winter carnival to help fight hunger from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will take place at Maple Lane Archery and Ski Center, 124 Kreiger Drive, in Skandia. There will be cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and concessions. A $5 donation to the Lions Club gets you access to all the amazing scenic trails Maple Lane Sports has to offer. If you don’t have your own winter equipment, ski and snowshoe rentals will be available for $5. Admission is free for children under 3, rental fees will still apply. All proceeds will go to support local food pantries.
