Bird count — the Laughing Whitefish Audubon Society’s 71st annual Christmas Bird Count will take place. Participants will meet at 8 a.m. at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, Marquette, and groups will be formed to cover various regions of the count-area. There is no cost to take part in the count, and no pre-registration is necessary. The count will last until about noon, and participants are asked to dress warmly. Birders of all abilities are invited, and new participants will be paired with experienced counters. Participants may also count birds at their home feeders by pre-registering and requesting a tally sheet. The Marquette count circle covers a 7.5-mile radius centered on the old City Hall at Fourth and Washington.
