Oscar-winning film at PWPL

MARQUETTE — The Peter White Public Library invites film fans to enjoy a bring-your-own-dinner, movie event at 6 p.m. Tuesday for a screening of the 2017 film “Call Me by Your Name.”

Due to construction the film will be shown in the library’s Business Reference Room on the upper level.

In the summer of 1983, Elio Perlman, a precocious 17-year-old young man, goes to Italy where he falls in love with an older man.

Starring Armie Hammer, Timothee Chalamet and Michael Stuhlbarg, this romantic drama is rated R and runs 132 minutes. This film won an Oscar for the best adapted screenplay.

Summer concert series at library

MARQUETTE — Peter White Public Library’s Summer Concert Series continues with Wanda Degen and Kay Tinker O’Neil in The Catbird Seat at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the library’s Huron Mountain Gallery on the main level.

In this concert for both adults and children, Wanda and Kay perform Celtic, folk. Great Lakes, and vintage pop music featuring lovely harmony vocals accompanied by autoharp, dulcimer, flute and guitar.

Since 2013, this duo has been enthusiastically received by audiences in a wide variety of venues around Michigan including Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, Wild Blueberry Festival in Paradise, Silver Bells in the City in Lansing, Original Dulcimer Players Club Funfest in Evart, and Children’s Concert Series in East Lansing.

There is no admission charge to attend thanks to sponsorship by the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library.
