YMCA Couch to 5K program set

MARQUETTE — Probably the biggest challenge a new runner faces is not knowing how or where to start. Often when trying to get into exercise, a person can overdo it, feel defeated and give up when just getting started.

The YMCA’s Couch to 5K program help get people started in the right direction. Designed to get brand new runners in shape for a 5K in seven weeks. Personal trainer Brittany Richard will help build endurance through walking and jogging, as well as learn a few strength and cross training techniques so one will be able to run 3.1 miles with no worries … and get ready for the Y Run/Walk on April 28.

Questions on what type of shoe to get? Queen City Running will provide a shoe demo during the program.

This program is offered from 5-5:45 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday starting March 6. The cost is $40 for members and $60 for non members.
