Free Medicare seminar to be held

REPUBLIC — Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program is offering a free seminar to help folks confused by Medicare.

This presentation will talk about programs that will help people pay for Medicare out-of-pocket costs and the new Medigap subsidy to help pay Medigap costs.

A certified MMAP Counselor will answer questions. The seminar will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3 at Riverview Heights Senior Meal Site in Republic.

Medicare has become much more complicated over the past several years. Medicare now includes choices on how to receive health benefits, as well as offering prescription drug coverage. Most people have a difficult time understanding their options and have no idea how to choose the ones that are best for them.

MMAP is a free community-based, health-benefits counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries and their families. MMAP is funded by state and federal agencies and does not sell or endorse any insurance product. MMAP is locally sponsored by UPCAP, the U.P. Area Agency on Aging.

For more information on MMAP, dial 2-1-1 from anywhere in the U.P.
