Ishpeming VFW summer hours set

ISHPEMING — Ishpeming VFW 7345 has new summer hours.

The post will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday. The post has air conditioning, a snack bar, pool table and a large screen TV. Area veterans, family, friends and guests are invited to drop in for hot coffee or a cold beverage. Call the post at 486-4856 for more information.

Camp STAR kicking off in August

MARQUETTE — STAR Children’s Bereavement Services will be hosting its annual weekend-long summer camp, Camp STAR, Aug. 11-13 at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay.

Children interested in attending must live in the Upper Peninsula, be between the ages of 8 and 17, and have experienced the death of a parent, friend or loved one.

Camp STAR is a free weekend long camp filled with traditional, fun, camp activities combined with grief education and emotional support. All camp activities are facilitated by caring, trained professionals, and volunteers. Each camper is assigned a camp buddy, who are adults ages 18 to 25.
