MARQUETTE — American Legion Post No. 44 in Marquette is inviting the public to come out for a good cause Saturday.

The post is hosting a fundraiser for United States Air Force Veteran Richard Jacobson.

Jacobson served in multiple deployments, including one in Iraq during his 15-year military career.

Jacobson was recently diagnosed with a health issue that kept him away from his job and required his wife to take time away from her job to support him.

“He’s just a great guy. A 15-year veteran who has worked in the Western (Upper Peninsula). helping veterans with their issues,” said Post 44 Vice Commander John Mayotte. “It’s sad that the guy who helps everyone else now is the one who needs help. It was a no-brainer for us, we needed to do something.”

The fundraiser is from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Local musical favorites Jim and Ray will perform during the event.

Food will be on offer, as well as a silent auction, 50/50 drawings, bucket raffle and a bake sale.

American Legion Post 44 is located at 700 W. Bluff St.. in Marquette.
