Migrant worker killed in Marinette crash

Marinette County, WI – One man is dead, two are hurt and one is missing after a car struck a power pole in Beaver, Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon. The Marinette County Sheriff’s office said the car hit a power pole, which caught on fire. One man Juaquin Sanchez, 53, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

As of Friday morning, the driver of the vehicle, who fled the scene has not been located.

His name is Jose Santos Gurdian he is a 40-year-old Hispanic man.

His photo is posted on the Marinette County Sheriff’s Facebook page. All four occupants of the vehicle are believed to be workers from a nearby farm. Police were able to speak with the two surviving occupants of the vehicle have been identified as 28-year-old Jeremias Cento, and 36-year-old Jilberto Espinosa.

Police were able to interview them with the help of a Spanish-speaking interpreter.

The incident is still under investigation.
