Delta County adds 69 virus cases in 3 days

ESCANABA — Delta County has added 69 confirmed COVID-19 positives in the past three days, data from local health officials showed Friday.

The Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Friday also listed 12 more confirmed positives in Menominee County since its last update Tuesday. No new deaths were recorded in either county; Delta County’s number was reduced by one.

As of Friday, Delta County has had 3,028 confirmed cases, 574 probable cases and 85 deaths, according to PHDMC. Menominee County had 1,702 confirmed cases, 304 probable and 39 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

State COVID-19 data Friday showed 108 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula, including 25 in Delta County.

Only Schoolcraft County’s numbers stayed the same Friday among the U.P.’s 15 counties. Menominee County had four more confirmed cases.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday listed 27 new confirmed cases in Marquette County; 25 in Delta County; 15 in Chippewa County; 12 in Houghton County; seven in Dickinson County; four in Menominee County; three each in Iron, Luce, Mackinac and Keweenaw counties; two in both Baraga and Ontonagon counties; and one each in Alger and Gogebic counties. Chippewa County had the region’s only new death.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 18,337 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 403 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 135 confirmed cases and 32 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 159 confirmed cases and 156 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 275 confirmed cases and 50 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 299 confirmed, 182 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 362 confirmed cases and 214 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 388 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 532 confirmed cases, 111 probable and 33 deaths; Iron County, 904 confirmed cases and 62 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Chippewa County, 967 confirmed cases and 1,288 probable, and 27 deaths, five probable; Gogebic County, 992 confirmed cases and 358 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,697 confirmed cases, 303 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,302 confirmed cases and 290 probable, 56 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,393 confirmed cases, 588 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,019 confirmed cases and 567 probable, 67 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,913 confirmed cases, 731 probable and 56 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday posted 8,955 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 779,777. The state recorded 40 new deaths to reach 16,771.
