MARQUETTE — In collaboration with Barrel and Beam and The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market, The Delft Bistro presents “Shared Ground Social” A gathering of the local food community and spring celebration for local farmers at 5:30 p.m. May 26. Attendees will enjoy an evening of local food, beer, and music.

Community members involved in planning the event were inspired to organize the Shared Ground Social as a thank-you to local farmers.

Speaking on the motivation behind this event, The Delf Bistro’s Chef Kris Stunkard said, “We can connect ourselves to the farmers, to the land, and to our communities and when we do that, we can change the whole world.”

This event, hosted at Barrel and Beam (260 Northwoods Road, Marquette), will provide attendees the opportunity to meet and mingle with local farmers and enjoy dishes prepared with local ingredients.

Attendees will also enjoy live music from Joe Sayler and Strung Together.

A silent auction will feature flowers and baskets created with local food lovers in mind.

Marquette area farmers are invited to attend this event for free. Registration is required.

Funds raised from the Shared Ground Social will go towards providing farmers free attendance, and the Power of Produce youth program.

This eight-week program will be returning to the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market in 2022 with help from Partridge Creek Farm. Power of Produce provides children the opportunity and resources to get involved with their local food systems while directing money to local farms.

“Our future communities are dependent on today’s youth and introducing them to our local food systems is an essential building block for a brighter future,” said Emily Bateman of Partridge Creek Farm.
