Part of building a community is to celebrate accomplishments and give recognition to those outstanding people and businesses who help make the West End of Marquette County a great place to live and work.

Currently, we are seeking nominations for our Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Gala. Categories are: Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Organization of the Year. Nominations are open to the public and need to be submitted by Sept. 6.

Business of the Year nominations need to be a GINCC member business. The criteria include, but not limited to, local economic growth, community impact and creating a heathy business environment for the West End.

Business Person of the Year nominations recognize a business leader who goes above and beyond the expectations of day-to-day operations of their establishment that can be recognized in service to their community.

Volunteer of the Year does not have to be a GINCC member. This nomination can be anyone who has given time to the betterment of their community either through contributions to an organization or on their own.

Organization of the Year (service group, volunteer organization or other non-profit) nominations need to show how they have helped improve the quality of life for the residents of the West End of Marquette County.

A fifth award, selected internally, is given to the Chamber Member of the Year. This award is selected based on the member’s participation and involvement with GINCC events and activities.

Nominations will be reviewed and selected by the GINCC annual award committee and approved by the GINCC board of directors. Winners will be announced prior to the annual awards gala to be held on Oct 10 at Wawonowin Country Club.
