Bourque is new vehicle inspector

MARQUETTE — Joshua Bourque was selected as the new vehicle safety inspector for the Upper Peninsula.

He has a background as a mechanic and previous experience working on school buses.

Bourque is from south central Michigan but has resided in the Newberry area for the last five years. He will be responsible for all of the black and yellow school bus inspections in Eighth District.

He will work closely with school transportation supervisors, school officials and the public to ensure all students are being transported on safe school buses. In accordance with the Pupil Transportation Act, all school buses are inspected annually by the Michigan State Police vehicle safety inspector. The school bus inspection cycle runs from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31. Schools are encouraged to register on the Michigan School Bus Inspection Application online at www.mischoolbus.michigan.gov. Any questions regarding the school bus inspection program can be directed to Sgt. Danielle Stewart at 517-227-1818.

River Valley promotes Lea Dziesinski

WAUSAU, Wis. — Lea Dziesinski at River Valley Bank has been promoted to cash management solutions specialist, a new position created to serve business banking customers of the Upper Peninsula.

In this new role, Dziesinski will work closely with new and existing business banking customers — including businesses, municipalities and nonprofits — to identify their needs and create efficiencies in financial. Her office will be located at 1140 W. Washington St. in Marquette.

“My purpose in this new position is to help River Valley’s customers drive economic growth and entrepreneurship in our area,” Dziesinski said in a news release.

Dziesinski spent a year as market manager of River Valley Bank’s Copper Country locations in Houghton and Calumet. Prior to her time as market manager, she was assistant market manager with River Valley Bank for two years and previously held positions managing nonprofit organization operations, community outreach and engagement, fund development and retail storefront operations.

She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Michigan Technological University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Northern Michigan University. She serves on the board for the DeVos Art Museum, and is also a member of 40 Below Marquette County Young Professionals.
