Patrick Booth group to play

MARQUETTE — Bark & Branch — an improvisational musical journey through our greatest national treasure: the forest — will be performed by the Patrick Booth Quintet at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 on the Peter White Public Library’s Front Street steps.

Bark & Branch is Patrick Booth’s sonic exploration of the sense of quiet only found in the midst of the deep forest — the soft crunch of branch and leaf under foot, life upon life, a world teaming with beauty and surprise around every corner.

Bright colors abound, taking the listener through old growth forests in every season: the vibrancy of fall, the quiet and mysteries of winter, the newness of spring, and the joy of summer.

If the forest could speak through music, it might sound a little something like this.

Patrick Booth will be performing on saxophone. Rounding out the quintet are Gretchen Mckenzie-Trost, Harry South, Noah Pickett, and Luke Arquette.

Bring a chair or blanket to sit on to enjoy this weeknight event. Attendees are requested to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

A rain date has been set for 7 p.m. Aug. 31

There is no admission fee to attend thanks to sponsorship by the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund of the Peter White Public Library.
