Gwinn man charged with murder of infant
MARQUETTE — A 32-year-old Gwinn man was arrested and jailed Wednesday on a count of homicide — felony murder, as well as two counts of first-degree child abuse, according to the Forsyth Township Police Department.
His bond is currently set at a total of $200,000. He will be arraigned in 96th District Court at 4 p.m. today.
The three felony charges issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office stem from a month-long investigation into the death of the man’s 4-month-old infant.
The investigation began after emergency personnel were dispatched to an unresponsive infant on the 100 block of Constellation Street in Gwinn around 11 p.m. Sept. 29. According to police, a joint investigation followed, with a report submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review.
The man was located at his parents’ residence in Ely Township Wednesday evening and was then lodged at the Marquette County Jail without incident. The agencies assisting in the investigation were the Department of Human Services Child Protection Division and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
