Ordinance to remove ‘homestays’

MARQUETTE — A story about the Marquette City Commission that appeared in Sunday’s edition of The Mining Journal contained inaccurate information about an upcoming public hearing.

The commission at its May 30 meeting scheduled a public hearing for Monday to consider an ordinance that would align outdated city code definitions with alterations that were made following the May 8 adoption of new regulations on short-term rentals. The proposed ordinance would also remove “homestays” from the city’s business license section of the code, as homestays are now regulated under city zoning ordinance and permitted by the Marquette City Fire Department.
