Funnel cloud sighted in Forsyth Township, more possible
MARQUETTE — Cold air funnel clouds are possible over portions of west and central upper Michigan this afternoon, according to a special weather statement by the National Weather Service.
The cooler air mass in place today combined with weak daytime heating and instability will provide a favorable environment for the possibility of cold air funnel clouds across portions of west and central upper Michigan this afternoon. The Marquette County Dispatch Center in Negaunee reported that a funnel cloud was sighted in Forsyth Township early this afternoon.
Cold air funnels look threatening, but rarely touch the ground to become tornadoes, according to the statement.
