Newberry boys track rolls to St. Ignace Invite title

ST. IGNACE — The Newberry boys track and field team was hard to stop Friday afternoon as the Indians cruised to the St. Ignace Invitational title.

Newberry finished with 133 points, 31 ahead of second place Pickford. The Indians won both the 4X100 and 4X200 relays as well as seven individual titles. Alex Johnson (110 and 300 meter hurdles) and John Paramski (long jump, shot put) both won two events for Newberry.

On the girls side, St. Ignace won the team title with 127 points, while Munising (77) and Newberry (71) finished second and third respectively. Michaela Peramaki won the 100 meter dash and the pole vault for the Mustangs, while Madeleine Peramaki took first in the 1600 run.

The Indians won the 4X100 relay and were led individually by Taylor Bryant, who finished first in both the 100 and 300 hurdles.
