Redettes sweep top GNC girls honors

MARQUETTE – Marquette swept all three player and coach of the year honors in girls basketball for the Great Northern Conference in recent voting by the league’s coaches.

Senior forward Terese Ledy was named Player of the Year, junior guard Amber Huebner earned Defensive Player of the Year, and Ben Smith was named Coach of the Year in the five-team conference.

In addition, Ledy, Huebner and three of their teammates earned other honors from the league.

Huebner made the GNC’s First Team, Ledy was named to the All-Defensive Team, junior forward Kellsey Grange was placed on the GNC Second Team and junior guard Izzie Peterson and sophomore center Mo Miller made the honorable mention list.

The Redettes, who are 18-2 overall, were the league champions with a 7-1 record while Gladstone and Kingsford tied for second each at 4-4.
