MHSAA holds bowling regionals

MARQUETTE – Four area high schools will send bowling teams to MHSAA regionals in three locations in the Lower Peninsula today and Saturday.

Team bowling will take place today and singles on Saturday for boys and girls.

Top qualifiers – which in the past has been three teams and 10 individuals – advance to the state finals the following weekend.

In Division 2 at Gaylord, Marquette will compete against 10 other schools, including Iron Mountain, Escanaba and Sault Ste. Marie from the Upper Peninsula.

In Division 3 at Cheboygan, Ishpeming-Negaunee will go up against 14 other schools, including the U.P.’s Calumet, Gladstone and Menominee.

And in Division 4 at Traverse City, Westwood and L’Anse will face a dozen other schools, including St. Ignace.

All these schools have both boys and girls teams except for Westwood, which only has a girls team this season.
