OTS coach has new title

By Journal Sports Staff

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University-Olympic Training Site recently bestowed a new title on one of its coaches.

Andy Bisek was named the associate head coach of the NMU-OTS Greco-Roman wrestling program. During the two years Bisek has been with the team, 13 wrestlers have notched spots on the U23 Junior, Senior and World Teams. He was also the coach for the 2017 and 2018 U23 World Championship squads.

Before arriving in Marquette, Bisek was on the USA Wrestling national team and competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He won bronze medals at the 2014 and 2015 World Championships, which were the only Senior Greco-Roman World medals the U.S. earned during that four-year Olympic cycle. Bisek has also won gold at the 2015 Pan American Games and at the 2012 and 2014 Pan American Championships.

Bisek is also an NMU alum and was a member of the then-U.S. Olympic Education Center Greco Roman program.
