NMU men sign Marquette’s Grazulis, 2 from Illinois

MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team has announced that three student-athletes have signed to play for the Wildcats next season.

The players are current Marquette Senior High School senior Vejas Grazulis, along with Illinois players Kenton Mack and Akim Nyang.

As a Redman, Grazulis was named to the Second Team All-Great Northern Conference last season and is a 6-foot-10 center on this year’s team. His sister, Daina, plays at Grand Valley State and his brother, A.J., plays for Michigan Tech.

Mack comes from Algonquin, Ill., where he was coached by former Wildcats player Jimmy Roberts. A 6-1 guard, Mack led Jacobs High School to a regional championship last season.

Nyang is a 7-1 center who hails from South Sudan. He comes to NMU from Mooseheart Academy in Illinois where he helped lead the Red Ramblers to the Class A state championship.
