Thompson, Grigg lead Jack’s Teepee 1 in extra innings

NEGAUNEE — Jordann Grigg went 5 for 5 and Hailly Thompson 4 for 5 to lead Jack’s Teepee 1 to a 17-16 extra-innings victory over Willey’s Tire Shop in a Class C game of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on May 30.

Willey’s Amy Williams was 5 for 5 and Caitlin Hewitt 4 for 4.

In other “C” action, Ellen Sundberg cracked three doubles in a 4-for-4 performance as U.P. Health Plan scored an 18-11 win over Venice 2.

The winners’ Cheryl Churack had a homer and triple while Jax Peterson laced a double. Venice’s Mara Couch was 4 for 4 with a homer and Krystal Frederickson went 2 for 3.

Ann Herman was 4 for 4 and Kathy Lapine and Toni Tikkanen each were 4 for 5, all hitting a double, in Pineshears’ 15-11 win over U.P. Fabricating.

Pineshears’ Chelsea Roberts added two triples and Victoria Powelson a homer, while UPF’s Renee Caya was 3 for 3 with three runs scored.

Rachel Scott went 3 for 4 as she and Steph Perry doubled to support winning pitcher Brianna Lynch in River Rock Lanes’ 16-1 win over Jack’s Teepee 2. Lynch also had a double.

Jenn Quayle was 4 for 4 with a pair of triples to support winning hurler Kathy Gischia in QCPFC’s 9-6 win over Marquette Embroidery, which saw Amy Young go 3 for 4.

Bertucci Construction edged Eagles 12-11 in the other “C” game.

In Class A, Autumn Isip hit an over-the-fence homer and scored three times in Cognition Brewing Co.’s 23-8 mercy-rule victory over Buck’s Party Store.

Isip, Terri Tammelin and Mandie Meyer all went 4 for 4 as Tammelin and Meyer both hit two doubles with Tammelin scoring four times and Meyer three.

Teammates Mariah LaPointe-Dunham, Tiah Pusakulich and Nicolette Schultz each went 3 for 4 as LaPointe-Dunham had three triples and scored three runs, Pusakulich had two doubles and Schultz had a double and scored three runs. In addition, Brigette LaPointe-Dunham doubled.

For Buck’s, Janet Koski was 2 for 2 while Mary Niemi and Libby Nelson each went 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Koski, Niemi, Sara Polini, Deb Zummak, Liz Hamming, Nicole Christensen and Amber Buckmaster all hit a double.

Charissa Johnson hit a pair of doubles and Hannah Holma doubled as each scored three times in Screened Image’s 19-10 win over Tino’s.

For Tino’s, Taryn Moyle, who tripled, and Josey Moyle each went 3 for 3.

Anna Noskey, who tripled, and Sandie Whitford both went 4 for 5 as Sisters outscored Martin Sports 22-17.

Martin’s Joanna Smail had two doubles and two RBIs while Ashley Asgaard had one in each of those categories.

Brandi Logan went 4 for 4 to lead Venice 1 to a 15-6 win over Jasper Ridge Brewery, which got a 3-for-3 game from Tabitha Guidebeck.

In Class B, Neily Collick was 4 for 5 with a triple and Katie Axford 4 for 4 as Yooper Shirts scored a 23-9 win over Quality Car Care, whose Connie Kontio tripled.

Ally Solander went 3 for 4 with a triple and double as Buster’s pulled out a 10-7 win over Venice 3, whose Julie Boule tripled.

Kathy Maynard went 2 for 3 to lead Paradise to a low-scoring 6-2 win over Pasquali’s, which saw Shelley Young go 2 for 2.

Maria Parks homered in VALIC’s 21-5 win over Signs Unlimited, while the game between Dave’s Collision and Brogie’s was postponed.
