Team Copper Country sweeps Fox Motors in youth hockey

HOUGHTON — Looking to remain unbeaten after coming into Saturday with a record of 13-0-1, the defending national champion Team Copper Country Tier II Under-18 hockey team won a pair of games over Marquette Fox Motors, 8-0 and 7-3, at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena.

In the opener, Team CC struck three times in the first period to set the tone with scores by Calumet’s Josh Vandenburg, Hancock’s Teddy Perrault and Houghton’s Kevin Bostwick, according to a report from the Daily Mining Gazette in Houghton. Houghton’s Dawson McKay had two goals in the third.

In Game 2, Calumet’s Brent Loukus scored twice at the start of the first and second periods. Information on Marquette scorers wasn’t available.
